Corner of the Sky is a small creative village set at the edge of San Juanillo, Costa Rica — a place where food, conversation, creativity, and community come together.

What began as a simple idea between friends has grown into a gathering place for locals, travelers, artists, and neighbors who believe that beautiful things happen when people slow down, share bread, and spend time together.

The Founders

Corner of the Sky was created by a small group of friends who share a love for creativity, hospitality, and community.

The project was co-founded by Michael Flutie and Gyan Shahaf Peled, who envisioned a place where food, creativity, and conversation could come together in a simple and meaningful way.

Together they built Corner of the Sky as an evolving project — part bakery, part gathering place, part creative retreat — rooted in the spirit of San Juanillo and the people who pass through it.

Michael Flutie

Michael Flutie is a creative entrepreneur and producer whose work spans fashion, media, and storytelling. After many years working internationally in the creative industries, he began developing Corner of the Sky as a slower, more human space — a place where people can gather, create, and share everyday moments.

Gyan Shahaf Peled

Gyan Shahaf Peled is an artist and designer whose work explores architecture, environment, and the relationship between space and community. His vision helped shape the physical and emotional design of Corner of the Sky — creating spaces that feel open, natural, and welcoming.
